O many, Houston will bring back thoughts of a memorable line from an iconic film.

But there is much more than that to the Space City, the fourth largest in the US.

It is a place on the up, having hosted the Super Bowl earlier this year, and with various building projects continuing downtown.

Our three-day trip to Texas coincided with the first Manchester derby held on foreign soil, at the NRG Stadium.

This represente­d a huge coup for the city, bringing in about 72,000 soccer fans from across the country who wanted to see two of England’s biggest clubs in the flesh.

And like us, that allowed many to explore what Houston, also known as the Bayou city, has to offer.

Our first stop was for a look around the city’s downtown area.

There is a surprising­ly large amount of green space for such a bustling, busy city centre filled with hotels and huge skyscraper­s belonging to banks and big business.
