opponents.

Two tries each for veteran left wing Courtney Allette and his centre partner Brad Reed, plus a terrific individual score from right centre Alex Chatterton and three goals from half back Luke Pogson were enough to clinch the two points for Underbank.

Both teams handled the misty and muddy conditions well, except in the latter stages of the game when tired bodies started to make errors for both sides.

Rangers fielded four Australian debutants in their match squad of 17 with Reed, Terrence Green, Joey Bobbin and Matty Byatt all making their first appearances in Underbank colours, and all contributed to this famous triumph.

Even though the backs grabbed the accolades and scored all of the points, the forwards laid the platform for victory as front rowers Jonlee Sanderson, Danny Hirst, Luke Roberts and Mikey Holmes put in a great shift in the trenches, and they were superbly supported by back rowers Owen Restall, Bobbin, Tom Stringer, Craig Williams and Jordan Williams.

St Pats started the game in great style and after prop forward Jamie Bristoe had powered towards the home goal line, stand off Joe Higham scooted out of the play the ball for the opening score of the game after just three minutes on the clock.

Centre James Ratcliffe kicked the easy conversion and the visitors led 6-0.

However, Underbank hit back almost immediately as on their next possession hooker Hirst cleverly spotted that St Pats were light in numbers on the short side.

He darted to the left and fired out a pass to centre Reed who pushed off two defenders with ease before passing inside to Allette who raced over from 20 metres. Pogson pulled the conversion wide, but Rangers were back in it.

However, almost immediately St Pats’ Higham grabbed his second try as he burst through some weak tackling up the middle of the field and raced around Underbank fullback Jakob Garside with some ease to touch down to the left of the posts.

Ratcliffe again converted and did so again on fifteen minutes as back row forward Phil Glover plunged over from acting half back at the play the ball.

At this stage of the game St Pats were playing the perfect
