Evie donates her long hair to charity for cancer sufferers

-

A KIND-hearted girl has donated her locks to help children suffering with cancer.

Evie Wilcockson had her long hair cut short in aid of the Little Princess Trust.

The 10-year-old from Marsh braved the hairdresser to donate more than 12 inches of her blond hair to the charity.

Her proud mum, Sue, said: “Evie has been growing her hair for over two years for the sole purpose of donating it to the Little Princess Trust.

“She was inspired to donate her hair because of a lovely work friend of mine, Becky Taylor. Becky received a wig from the Princess Trust when she was receiving treatment for breast cancer.

“Evie saw how happy she was and decided that she wanted to make someone ‘feel special’ by having a real hair wig and decided to grow her hair.

“She donated over 12 inches of hair and made this decision when she was eight years old.

“Evie also said that it must be so hard for children who have cancer to loose their hair and she wanted to do something to try and help.”

The youngster had her hair cut at CGHQ Hair Design in Brockholes.

Gary Cook, the owner and stylist, donated his fee for the hair cut to Evie’s fundraising page.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment. Evie is trying to raise at least £350 to help towards the cost of making the wig, which varies between £300 and £500 per wig.
