Chance for Donaldson

-

JAMES is in line to make his first appearance in almost a year after being named in Hull KR’s 19-man squad to face Huddersfield Giants tonight.

The 26-year-old second-rower comes into the squad in place of Danny Tickle, as head coach Tim Sheens made just one change to the squad which lost out on Saturday to Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.

Having featured for dualregistration partners York City Knights, scoring a try off the bench in York’s two-point win at Oldham, Donaldson is now looking to make his first Super League appearance of the campaign.

Sheens has resisted making any further changes to the squad despite the 18-16 defeat in France. ■■Toronto have stepped up their push for a place in Super League with the capture of Gareth O’Brien from Salford.

The Canadian outfit are thought to have paid a fee of around £100,000 for the 26-year-old former Warrington full-back, who signed a new three-year contract with the Red Devils just under 12 months ago.

It was O’Brien’s dramatic longrange drop goal, in golden-point extra-time in the Million Pound Game at Hull KR 18 months ago, that kept Salford in Super League.

O’Brien, who makes the move with immediate effect, is the latest big-name recruit for the Wolfpack, who gained promotion from League 1 at the first attempt in 2017 and are currently fourth in the Betfred Championship with four wins.
