Leaders turn to Cup

-

HUDDERSFIELD Town Ladies Under 16s made it 14 wins out of 14 with a 6-2 home success against Sheffield United.

Courtney Livsey twice went close for Town before United took the lead, following up after a great double save from Emily Brookes.

Harriet Waller quickly put Town level, after a Molly Ellis shot had been spilled, and then Livsey put them ahead.

Alicia Marriott made it three on 34 minutes, following a cross from Zoe Laughton.

United got back into it with a deflected goal in the second half before Livsey restored the two-goal advantage, following good work by Emily Uttley and Marriott.

Waller got the fifth as Town continued to create chances, and Molly Ellis completed the scoring after a great run.

Gwen Hughes was voted player of the match for dominating midfield.

On Saturday, the Under 16s play a semi-final of the Sheffield & Hallamshire League Cup at home to Sheffield Wednesday (10.30).

Town’s Under 14s made relatively smooth progress to the semi-finals of the Sheffield & Hallamshire League Cup, beating Rovers Foundation 2-0.

Isobella Kington put Town ahead on five minutes on a very muddy pitch, tucking home a cross from Laura Hulme, who was causing a lot of problems for Rovers.

Mia Harris and Leah Pearman went close before Kington netted the second on 20 minutes.

Town continued to dominate throughout the second half without adding to their tally.

On Saturday the Under 14s play their semi-final at Doncaster Belles (10.30).
