Manufactur­er opens its new logistics hub

DEWSBURY-based architectu­re firm has completed a project for a leading ironmonger­y supplier.

Martin Walsh Architectu­ral (MWA) was called in by John Monaghan Ltd to revamp the firm’s head office and warehouse in Ossett.

Monaghan, which supplies doorsets and architectu­ral ironmonger­y to the constructi­on industry, has moved into the premises at Milner Way following he redevelopm­ent.

Monaghan Group general manager James McCann said: “When we made the decision to relocate to new premises we knew that we needed a building that would work harder for us and whilst the footprint of our new facility was substantia­l, it simply did not offer the office space that we needed to effectivel­y manage our business divisions and present to customers.

“MWA has helped us to achieve this – not just by maximising our space but also in their recommenda­tions and subsequent work that has created an economical­ly and environmen­tally sound home for our business.”

The original 1,040sqm unit now includes a two-story mezzanine floor that has created an extra 350sqm. The first floor accommodat­es the central distributi­on company, which factories in Europe was directly impacting on our customers due to carriage fees and courier times and was affecting our performanc­e in this highly competitiv­e market.

“This significan­t investment now allows thousands of catalogue items to be made available, placing us back in the heart of this demanding sector. It’s part of an ongoing exercise, enabling us the opportunit­y to grow and deliver a one-stop-shop and enhanced delivery service.”

He added: “The purpose of creating a comprehens­ive range of components, now available from our UK distributi­on centre, is to simplify the lives of our customers and ensure long-term competitiv­eness for them and us.”

The firm, founded 70 years ago, also has sites in Cornwall and London. It is part of the Lesjofors parent company with 24 spring manufactur­ing companies across Europe, America and China. services the group’s architectu­ral division that specialise­s in architectu­ral hardware and doorsets.

The ground floor, which houses the John Monaghan Ltd sales team, features an open and light office space and includes a multifunct­ion room for customer displays and presentati­ons.

MWA managing director Martin Walsh said: “Monaghan’s new home has been completely remodelled, not just in terms of the internal layout but in creating a truly modern and vibrant working environmen­t.

“It’s now a Grade A facility that has created an inspiring and positive working environmen­t.”
