Manufacturer opens its new logistics hub
DEWSBURY-based architecture firm has completed a project for a leading ironmongery supplier.
Martin Walsh Architectural (MWA) was called in by John Monaghan Ltd to revamp the firm’s head office and warehouse in Ossett.
Monaghan, which supplies doorsets and architectural ironmongery to the construction industry, has moved into the premises at Milner Way following he redevelopment.
Monaghan Group general manager James McCann said: “When we made the decision to relocate to new premises we knew that we needed a building that would work harder for us and whilst the footprint of our new facility was substantial, it simply did not offer the office space that we needed to effectively manage our business divisions and present to customers.
“MWA has helped us to achieve this – not just by maximising our space but also in their recommendations and subsequent work that has created an economically and environmentally sound home for our business.”
The original 1,040sqm unit now includes a two-story mezzanine floor that has created an extra 350sqm. The first floor accommodates the central distribution company, which factories in Europe was directly impacting on our customers due to carriage fees and courier times and was affecting our performance in this highly competitive market.
“This significant investment now allows thousands of catalogue items to be made available, placing us back in the heart of this demanding sector. It’s part of an ongoing exercise, enabling us the opportunity to grow and deliver a one-stop-shop and enhanced delivery service.”
He added: “The purpose of creating a comprehensive range of components, now available from our UK distribution centre, is to simplify the lives of our customers and ensure long-term competitiveness for them and us.”
The firm, founded 70 years ago, also has sites in Cornwall and London. It is part of the Lesjofors parent company with 24 spring manufacturing companies across Europe, America and China. services the group’s architectural division that specialises in architectural hardware and doorsets.
The ground floor, which houses the John Monaghan Ltd sales team, features an open and light office space and includes a multifunction room for customer displays and presentations.
