Field aim to tame Lions and notch third success on the run

-

Brandon Conway, a last-minute absentee last week, is set to return to the wing in place of Danny Grainger, while Joel Hinchcliffe looks to have shaken off a knock to continue at scrumhalf.

Nick Sharpe returns at lock and will partner Adam Malthouse, to replace Austen Thompson who got himself a try up at Blaydon – the front row will be unchanged.

Leicester didn’t play after their Chester clash was postponed for a second time last week.

So they will be feeling duly rested ahead of this clash in the battle to finish sixth – Hinckley sit in fifth 26 points clear.

The midlands side are in a similar position to Huddersfield, who claimed a 31-17 win in the reverse fixture in the Midlands earlier this season.

Lewis added: “This has all the makings of a good game.

“Similar to ourselves they are having a pretty good season and there are a handful of teams all chasing that sixth-place finish.

“We had an outstanding away win down there earlier in November, so they will be looking to overturn that result.”

Huddersfield are in the box seat, currently sitting sixth, with Lions seven points further down in ninth.

Other sides in the tight pack from sixth to tenth include Chester and Sheffield Tigers who play each other.

Lions’ neighbours, Leicester South, face a midlands clash away at promotion hopefuls Stourbridge, who Sheffield Tigers beat last week.

A win would be crucial to Field’s chances of staying sixth, as they don’t play the week after, and their remaining games are against sides either chasing promotion, or teams who are also vying for that sixth-place finish.

Huddersfield RUFC: Lewis Workman, Elliot Knight, Tom Owen, Sam Allan, Brandon Conway, Will Milner, Joel Hinchcliffe; Alex Battye(c), Fran Entressengle, Adam Blades, Nick Sharpe, Adam Malthouse, Ben Morrill, Lewis Bradley, Dickie Piper. Replacements: Tony Stringwell, Austen Thompson, Ben Hoyle, Mark Pease, Danny Grainger

Huddersfield YMCA face a tough task in North One East.

They travel to top of the table Alnwick and YMCA were beaten on the road last weekend when they went down 26-6 at Driffield.
