Auctioneer appointed chair of male voice choir
Mr Butterworth added: “I am looking forward to my presidency and, as I am now close to my retirement, I am looking to do things that interest me.
“It is a role that will also keep me in circulation as well, which I think is very important.”
Mr Butterworth is currently a Reading Friend at Lindley Infant School and a trustee and former chairman of Huddersfield Common Good Trust.
Along with his wife, Susan, Mr Butterworth is also involved with Lindley Methodist Church.
He was welcomed into his new role at the choir’s recent rehearsal at Lindley Methodist Church.
The choir is now looking for new recruits as it aims to broaden its horizons due to regular requests to perform at local weddings.
Anyone interested in becoming a member or wanting further information about its activities can find it on the choir’s website www. gledholt.org.uk.
Upcoming performances include concerts at Salendine Nook Baptist Church in May, when their guests will be Musica Mirfield Swing Band, and at Lindley Methodist Church in June.
The highlight of the season will be a gala concert to celebrate their anniversary at St Paul’s Hall, Huddersfield on October 13.
In addition to their concert programme the choir is also giving a series of short concerts at care homes in Kirklees.
