Time for the speeding motorists to emerge ...

The sun has finally arrived and with it has come the Lesser Spotted Lunatic Driver.
This bird comes in two forms, The Lesser Spotted Car Driver and The Lesser Spotted Motorcyclist.
During the winter they have a tendency to hibernate due to the inclement weather and poor road conditions but as the roads dry out and the sun appears so do they.
They can be spotted in most, if not all, areas of Huddersfield.
Sadly here in Shelley we have an abundance of them.
Huddersfield Road from Kirkburton to Shelley, better known as ‘Red Hill,’ is a favourite flight path of theirs.
As yet they haven’t noticed that the speed limit has been reduced from 60mph to 40mph or if they have they are choosing to once again ignore it as they did the 60mph.
These people feel safe in this environment due to the lack of speed enforcement with The Hardly Ever Spotted Police Officer being hardly ever spotted.
Many local residents are sick to the back teeth of screaming engines and the danger these people pose to others. In desperation the speed limit was reduced because of this lunacy.
The Lesser Spotted Car Driver and their equivalent motorcyclist should take their machines to the race track where they can mingle or take part in organised speeding with like-minded folk.
We have nothing against speeding motorists, we just don’t wish to have them on our public roads where they can put our lives and our children’s lives in danger.
Even our village centre at 30mph is not a safe place as they seem unable to slow down enough for the 30mph sign.
What I do find ironic is the fact that some speeders come from an area where their nests and their young are protected by traffic calming measures. Strange old world. WHAT a shambles of a season for the Giants.
We are heading straight for the bottom four, we do not seem to have any ambition and are just drifting aimlessly.
We signed two new players in the close season, both poor buys.
We have a chief executive who gives long contracts to players who are not Super League standard and lets far better players go.
Just take a look at former players who are playing well for other clubs – the list is endless.
Reading the Rugby League Express, the editor says the club needs to get someone in who knows the game to control the signings.
This surely must be one of the first things done.
I know we have numerous injuries but the team has not been fit since we let Greg Brown go to Salford.
It really is a sad affair.
