Explore our popular University campus
THE University of Huddersfield has been transformed over the last few years and you can now go on a guided walk around it.
The walk will be on Sunday, May 6 at 2.30pm.
Over the years the campus has integrated buildings and features that highlight the development of the town including the canal towpath, the canalside textile mills, St Paul’s Church (now converted into the university’s concert hall) and the Ramsden Building, which in 1883 became the town’s first technical school.
The walk also visits developments created since it became a university in 1992 which now helps support a student population of over 23,000.
These include the Creative Arts Building, 3M Buckley Innovation Centre and the recently completed Oastler Building, which won the Huddersfield Examiner People’s Award in Huddersfield Civic Society’s annual design awards 2017.
The walk, which starts from the Ramsden Building on Queensgate (opposite Alfred Street Car Park) costs £3 per person but no booking is required.
Further information about the programme of walks, which are organised by the Discover Huddersfield partnership, as well as a series of free trails, can be found at local information points and libraries.
