this season with Almondbury BC A the latest winners by a 7-2 scoreline.

If the West’s home form is disintegrating then their away form is never going to be sufficient to stave off any fears of being involved in the developing relegation dogfight.

Currently they are one point ahead of the bottom two, who were last season’s promoted pairing of Thongsbridge A and Brockholes A.

Both lost again to Lindley Lib A and Cowcliffe respectively and both by the same 6-3 score.

In Section 2, Longwood continue to lead the way following their sixth consecutive win of the new season, but they have only a one-point lead over New Mill A with Rastrick a further four points behind them but with a game in hand.

This trio have opened up a 10-point gap between themselves and Crosland Moor in fourth place.

All four won again, three of them playing away from home.

Leaders Longwood won 7-2 at Lindley BC A, Crosland Moor 6-3 at Shepley with New Mill A and Rastrick both having eye-catching 8-1 wins.

Rastrick winning at Almondbury Lib and New Mill A over Meltham B to push their visitors down a place to fifth in the updated table.

Defeat for Shepley left them in bottom place albeit now level with Primrose Hill Lib A who lost 1-8 at Broad Oak A. ASHLEY Daykin won the Paul Sigsworth Trophy at Meltham BC.

The Yorkshire County stalwart defeated Mark Bramall 21-10 in the final sponsored by Michael Pogson. Mark Atkinson 21-7 Nathan Haigh, Ashley Daykin 21-13 Robert Hitchen, Mark Bramall 21-18 Graham Hickey, Jack Dyson 21-19 Kieran O’Prey. Atkinson 17-21 Daykin, Bramall 21-17 Dyson. It was the last 16 in the Sub-Team KO and only in one of the eight ties was the handicap the deciding factor.

The 10-point advantage for Denby Dale saw them edge out Ravensknowle Park A by 160-157.

There was a notable win for Section 4’s bottom placed team Netherton Con B, who beat Section 3 highfliers and previously unbeaten Lindley Lib B by 156-142.

The bottom two teams in Section 3 went head-to-head and Almondbury BC B were 155-129 winners over Springwood.
