The company, run by brothers Jimmy and Edward Marshall, who grew up in Huddersfie­ld, is constructi­ng the £3m Bridge Business Park at Colne Bridge Road, Huddersfie­ld.

The 2.73-acre site stands next to the headquarte­rs of nursery products firm Mamas & Papas and will feature a range of light industrial units.

The firm aims to support the local economy by providing attractive, practical and modern premises for small to medium-sized businesses.

Jimmy said: “As a Town supporter and Huddersfie­ld resident I feel very privileged to win this award.

“It feels amazing to get some recognitio­n for our speculativ­e investment in Huddersfie­ld and I am pleased to be able to support the economy and people of my town.”

The competitio­n to find Britain’s Top Tradespers­on 2018 is now under way – with the winner taking away not only the coveted title but also a brand new Mitsubishi L200 Warrior pick-up truck worth £33,000.

The annual competitio­n is organised by building trade materials retailer Screwfix, which has stores at Albert Street in Lockwood and Leeds Road in Huddersfie­ld and at Wilton Street, Dewsbury.

Top tradespeop­le will face off in a regional heat where 10 finalists from across the UK be chosen.

They will head to Wembley Stadium for the national final in July, where they will compete in front of a judging panel consisting of industry experts.

Last year’s winner was Lluis Dalmau, owner of LCD Heating and Gas Services, based at Clydebank, Scotland.

Entries are open until June 3, 2018, with regional finalists selected and competing later that month.
