Juniors off to a flier with stunning wins!

-

It was only the second ever victory over Sheffield, with the first in 2009, when Frank Greaves was Junior Manager and the President was the late Phillip Walton of Meltham Golf Club.

The Union thanked sponsors Glenbrae, who supplied the shirts and jumpers, Brand Con Sortia, who supplied the balls for the players, and Selbie Opticians, who back the Junior Order of Merit.

The Juniors are back in action tomorrow at Lightcliffe against the very strong York Union. All support welcome.

The Woodsome Hall European Tour pro opened with a four-over round of 75 and followed it yesterday with a two-over 73.

The leading players do battle this weekend for the title. THERE was more home domination in the Lawrence Batley Seniors League, with a couple of draws and only Wortley and Bradley Hall managing away victories.

Bradley Park did well to beat the previous week’s big winners, Hebden Bridge, and so join them in leading the way on 10 points in Section A.

A fine 6-2 home win for Bradford Moor over reigning champions Huddersfield meant that both teams have nine points, along with Blackley, who drew at Silkstone.

The final match was a comfortable home win for Lightcliffe.

In Section B, Bradley Hall’s 6-2 win at Todmorden was a good effort after their previous home setback.

West Bradford were brought back to earth after their superb start, losing 8-0 at South Leeds.

Crosland Heath lead the way from South Leeds in the embryonic league table.

In Section C, the big winners were Halifax, who defeated Low Laithes 8-0 at Ogden.

This propelled them to joint leadership in the table with West End, who drew at Outlane, and Meltham, who lost narrowly at Crow Nest Park.

The final match was a good home win for Queensbury over Branshaw.

Woodsome Hall lead the way in Section D following a 6-2 win over Calverley.

Wortley are hot on their heels after their second win of the season 5-3 at Werneth.

Also close behind are Oldham who beat Ryburn 8-0.
