Rubens Barrichello, former F1 driver, Jewel, singer, Heidi Range, singer, SADDENED as I am at the departing of Ray Wilson, he’ll stick in mine and a generation of minds until we depart ourselves.

Ray was part and parcel of a good team in those days at Town and a firm favourite of mine.

Strikers had to be magicians to get past this top class defender.

Town back then had a bad habit of selling on quality players and, along with Law et al, Ray was another.

I’d had my fill of self decimating Town supporting then.

While never actually going to watch him playing at his new club, I did follow the exploits of Ray at Everton and playing for England through the media and I still do have an interest and affinity with the club.

Up at Outlane, where I once lived, he could be seen in his profession as a funeral director.

I would have loved him to bury me if he was still around and doing it. I recall being acquainted with his son Russell for a period of time in the youth days.

Not that long ago I’d bump into him on dog walk days up at Blackmoorfoot reservoir.

Cheerio Ray -I’ll have to pause for a moment through welling up - you’ve been a pleasure to have known.

My heartfelt condolences go to all the Wilson family. PERHAPS the bemused and even frowning looks on the faces of members of the royal family as they listened to the Rev Michael Curry’s speech was because they have never really listened to a passionate Christian before.

Rather they attend church and listen to preachers toadying up to them, thus justifying their enormous wealth and privilege.

I thought the speech was courageous and wonderful.

Good on Justin Welby for inviting the Rev Curry to preach at what was a great wedding.
