Superb start for County

YORKSHIRE Ladies had a fantastic start to their season in the Inter-County Championship.

The defending champions beat North Lancs and Fylde by 127 points.

The home team, playing on a fast-running green at Lockwood Con, won by 92 points while the away team had a good win by 35 points at Ashton BC Preston.

For the home team, Marie Lockwood (New Mill) started the points with a 21-9 victory, followed by New Mill teammate Suzanne Howarth with a 21-8 win.

Home bowler Julie Mallinson (Lockwood Con), playing at No12, rounded things off with a 21-7 score.

For the away team, Alexis Lunn-Gadd (Ossett Flying Horse) ran out from being 10-6 down to give a 12-point lead after the first four jacks, and the points THE Jack Burgin Trophy final is at Lockwood Con on Sunday (2pm).

It is sponsored by the hosts, with the winner taking home £80 and the runner-up £40.
