New energy firm to help tackle bill rises

NE of Huddersfie­ld’s leading installers of intruder alarm, CCTV and fire alarms has completed one of its biggest ever takeovers.

Carlton Alarms, which is based at Berry Brow, which operates throughout Yorkshire and Lancashire, servicing and installing all types of security, fire and CCTV systems, has acquired well-establishe­d firm Armco Security with premises in St Thomas’ Street, Huddersfie­ld.

The Armco deal is Carlton’s sixth acquisitio­n in its history. Carlton Littleford, managing director at Carlton Alarms, said “When Armco approached us with the opportunit­y to acquire their firm, we were delighted.

“It was such a good opportunit­y for us, fitting in perfectly with our continuing journey of growth. Armco are one of Huddersfie­ld’s most establishe­d security firms with an excellent reputation which goes hand in hand with the service that we deliver here at Carlton Alarms.”

He said: “We would like to thank the team at Armco for a smooth transactio­n and look forward to welcoming their clients.”

Mr Littleford said that as a result of the acquisitio­n and further strategic growth plans, Carlton Alarms had a number of employment opportunit­ies available. HE search is on to find Yorkshire and Humber’s most inspiring young surveyors.

Nomination­s are invited for the annual RICS Matrics Young Surveyor of the Year Awards (YSOYA).

The competitio­n celebrates young talented surveyors, trainees and apprentice­s aged 35 and under who are helping to improve and advance local communitie­s.

The awards also recognise the influentia­l future leaders of the surveying profession.

Nine award categories cover a variety of surveying discipline­s, including asset and facilities management, project management and quantity surveying.

There’s also an Apprentice of the Year accolade to celebrate future talent coming into the industry through the apprentice­ship route.

The top award will be the RICS Matrics UK Young Surveyor of the Year title.

Entries are welcomed from individual­s themselves or from colleagues or employers.

The closing date to enter is July 6 and the winners will be announced in November at a black-tie ceremony in London.
