The young ones are most dangerous on our roads - they speed around, music so loud.

What I have seen lately has been young, mostly idiotic drivers speeding, some of them banging music out, lads doing wheelies on scooters without helmets.

One came down our road doing a wheelie and had a grey hoodie on and revving his scooter all the way. It sounded like a battlefield.

The police should catch them and get them off the road. We also have two scooters speeding in our car park and revving up and speeding over the grass verges.

I don’t think you see old people doing things so stupid.

They should get the young idiots off the road for good but the police don’t catch them. and co-founder of a forced marriage campaign group ‘In Memory of Shafilea Ahmed’ (pictured).

I’m calling for schools across the area to be aware of those at risk of forced marriage as the school holidays near and to take active measures in ensuring forced marriage is discussed.

The summer school holidays is a time where many young people will be having their futures stolen by those who are taking them overseas under the pretence of a holiday to lure them into a forced marriage.

The frontline of protection begins with the classroom. It’s imperative that teachers and pupils are equipped in tackling forced marriage.

An open culture of discussion and presence of awareness is a powerful tool in empowering the courage of those who are at risk to speak out.

Schools need to realise there can be no fear to take action when lives are at stake. Forced marriage isn’t an uncomfortable issue to be ignored.

Forced marriage is fundamentally a crime. It’s not about culture or tradition, it’s about control, a regime of violence and a part of slavery.

Forced marriage is just the beginning of a life of being exploited, forced into a life of servitude, being effectively owned, subjected to violence and denied freedom.

Teachers and peers need to look out for subtle changes in behaviour including a lack of engagement, no longer feeling hopeful about the future or missing days at school.

Ask yourself: Have they become withdrawn, reluctant to engage and anxious? Are they feeling hopeless about their future? Is there a pattern to them missing days? Have they stopped engaging with their friends? Are they being escorted by parents and siblings? Have they ever mentioned about shame and honour? And have they any physical symptoms of violence?

We’re seeking to work with schools. Now is the time to take action and contact us if any schools would like posters, the need to know information and for us to deliver a talk.

Then they can contact me on 0790 6901404.
