Plenty to crow about for double-win Jackie

She won with a net score of 66 from a handicap of 27, resulting in a reduction in handicap to 25. Jackie also won the Past Captains Trophy.

In second place was Kathy Hitchcock with a net score of 68 from handicap of 22, reducing her handicap to 21. Third place went to Ann Ashton with a net 70 score from a 27 handicap. Best Gross Shield was won by Carole Hampson with 84.

Diane Higgins won nearest the pin on the eighth, while Tracey Helliwell won the straightes­t drive on the 15th.

The junior winner this year was George Langley Webb with 30 Stableford points.

The gentlemen turned out in good form and played for the Lady Captain in an 18 hole Stableford match.

The winner was Peter Clough with 43 points,

In second place was Dave Hawksworth with 40 points and in third was Chris Taylor with 38.

Richard Langley Webb won nearest the pin on the 14th and Peter Clough won the straightes­t drive on sixth.

Meanwhile, Crow Nest Park captain Craig Helliwell and his wife Tracey completed a marathon 72-hole challenge to raise funds for this year’s captain’s charity the Calder Valley Search & Rescue.

Mr captain and Tracey played 18 holes at Crow Nest Park, followed by 18 at Lightcliff­e, Willow Valley and back to Crow Nest Park for the final 18.

After a cool, clear start to the morning the games were all played in hot sunshine, an excellent mid-summers day. The pair had a rousing welcome back into the clubhouse at 9pm, after a 4.30am start, looking remarkably fresh, where Craig announced he had walked 27.5kms and taken 43,400 steps.

They managed to raise in excess of £600.
