One ‘L’ of a transformation

desperately wanted and needed.

So when Beverly spotted the wilko Mirror garden makeover competition, she jumped at the chance to let a team of experts solve her garden layout dilemma.

“My garden is a town garden, partly paved and partly lawned,” she explains. “We have a small section of patio, then a grass area which is about 4ft by 10ft. But the level is raised on and makes it awkward to use.

“Although it was tranquil and relaxing, we couldn’t fit a table and chairs out there.”

To create a beautiful, low cost garden in a short space of time, the team’s first task was to remove the weeds that had taken over the flower beds and scale back the plant area.

New plants including Wilko purple Cordylines, red Dianthus, and Wilko Achillea in pink and blue were added to create bursts of colour, and Wilko Log Edging (£3,75 per roll) was used to separate the grass from the flowers.

The climbing plants on the wall made the space feel smaller and were replaced with tidy planters including the Wilko Clever Pots Hanging Wall Planter (2pk, £6) filled with Wilko Clematis plants and bedding flowers.

The raised area was transformed into a reading nook with a Wilko Pink Loose Weave Throw (£15), some Wilko Large all-weather Outdoor Cushions in Stripe (£16), and Wilko Outdoor Scatter Cushions in Red (£7).

This space can easily be transformed into a stylish entertainment area in the evening with Wilko Metal Garden 4 Seater Table and Chairs (£110). A pop of colour was added using coloured pots; Wilko Marble Effect Cube pots (£15 each), Wilko Madison Plant Pot Blue (£10 each), and Wilko Drain Pipe Pot Holders Aubergine and Green (£2.50 each). A Wilko Expanding Wood Trellis (£2.25) was fixed to the wall and Wilko Solar Frosting White String Lights (50 LEDS, £16) draped across to create a tranquil spot. Potted plants help to provide a contrast to the flower beds below. The Wilko Expanding Artificial Leaf Trellis was used on the back wall to create the illusion of greenery and large planters such as the Wilko Planter Square Tall Athens (£7) and the Wilko Planter Square Madrid Gun Metal (£10) have added style. The back door, gate and storage box were painted with Wilko Exterior Paint in Evergreen (£9).

Beverly said: “I was surprised at how simple changes and additions could have such a dramatic effect.

“I can’t wait to spend the rest of the summer in this new and improved outdoor space.”
