GREEK CHIC

-

peak season.

An abundance of both fruity and sharp cocktails was served on the beach and then came the food – and lots of it.

As we soaked up the beautiful sunshine, Greek-topped pizza and club sandwiches arrived.

Then dish upon dish filled the table – seafood linguine, overloaded mini burgers, salmon wraps and chips and plump, skin-on wedges, followed by a truffle risotto, more cocktails and perfectly-chilled bottles of bubbling prosecco.

We were then told there was a surprise in store.

Squinting through the sun, we watched as ice cream was miraculously created in front of us with liquid nitrogen.

An array of toppings were sprinkled onto our pineapple and raspberry concoctions and they were delicious.

That night, we dined at one of the five incredible restaurants on offer at the resort, The Sea Horse.

We devoured course after course of the freshest seafood – including squid, octopus, prawns and seabass – all fused with traditional Greek flavours.

This was followed by a plethora of desserts and multiple cocktails at the Philosophy Seaside Bar. All the while, the bar staff stand ready to shake you up a treat.

After a restful sleep in the gorgeous villa, we explored the resort’s 16 suite categories with everything from stunning sea view villas with private pools to Mediterranean suites with large dining areas. Each is blessed with its own unique selling point.

One boasted its own private bar, piano and wait for it – its own convertible roof – the largest of its kind in Europe, we are told.

The suites are all nestled among 40,000sqm of picturesque gardens.

Danai Spa, which handily is a stone’s throw from my villa, is a haven of tranquillity.

The facilities include a heated indoor pool with heated stone loungers, massage rooms and a nail spa.

Peaceful as it is, there are plenty of activities on offer – should you wish to explore. The resort’s award-winning wine cellar, built into the mountain-side, is just one of many. With 1,700 fine wines and 20 of the best champagnes in the world, the ‘Cave a vin’ is the largest wine cellar in Greece, and offers informative bespoke private wine tastings.
