With around 28,000 fans expected at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday, warnings are being issued to drivers along the M62 in West Yorkshire advising of congestion and delays at Junction 24, while Junction 25 is also set to be busy.

It comes as Metro announce plans for a shuttle bus from Huddersfield town centre and outside Huddersfield Railway Station to the stadium before and after the gig.

Little Mix bring their Summer Hits Tour to town and it’s the first gig at the stadium in more than a decade.

It means road closures and parking restrictions will be in place on the roads immediately around the stadium in a bid to keep cars away and assist concert-goers to get to and from the stadium safely.

It will call at St George’s Square, Stand S3 outside the railway station, at the following times: 15.45, 16.00, 16.15, 16.30, 16.45, 17.00, 17.15, 17.30, 17.45, 18.00, 18.15, 18.30, 18.45, 19.00 and 19.15.

The drop-off point will be the John Smith’s Stadium/Bradley Mills and the journey is around 10 minutes.

The return shuttle bus collects concert-goers at a different location – at the bus stop opposite Ricky’s Pub on Leeds Road.

It will leave Leeds Road at the following times: 21.30, 21.40, 21.50, 22.00, 22.10, 22.20, 22.30, 22.40, 22.50, 23.00 and 23.10.

It will drop off on Westgate, in Huddersfield town centre and at Huddersfield bus station around 10 minutes after the pick-up times.

The return price for the shuttle bus is £3 per person or £10 for a family of four. Tickets can be bought on the mTicket app, online or on board.

Stadium bosses have also announced road closures and travel restrictions.

There will be no parking, dropping off or picking up on St Andrew’s Road, Gasworks Street, Thistle Street and Bradley Mills Road from midday onwards until the end of the event, which is likely to be around 10.30pm to 11pm.

The information released says: “To ensure the safety of pedestrians exiting the concert, temporary road closures will be in place from approximately 9pm until half an hour after the concert ends, as follows: St Andrew’s Road will be closed from its junction with Turnbridge Road to its junction with Thistle Street.

“Bradley Mills Road will be closed from its junction with Brown Royd Avenue to the entrance to the Leeds Road Retail Park (but not including its entrance).

“Resident access and permit parking will be maintained throughout the road closure. Gasworks Street will be closed from its junction with St Andrew’s Road to its junction with the A62 Leeds Road.”

West Yorkshire Police advises people to plan their journey and leave plenty of time to get to the stadium, adding: “With approximately 28,000 people attending the concert, the motorways and the roads in the vicinity of the stadium will be very congested.

“Please park responsibly, vehicles causing an unlawful obstruction may be removed at the owner’s expense.”
