However, it wasn’t easy going for some of them with the closest result being the 154-153 that enabled Section 3 side Holmfirth A to overcome the surviving Section 5 team from Thongsbridge B. Completing the semi-finals line-up are the B teams from Netherton Con, Brockholes and Almondbury BC.

The Bistro had been, in the main, devoid of the traditional shock results this season until the quarterfinals, when two major shocks came along together.

The first was the outcome of the all-Netherton Con tie, where the B team prevailed over their elite Section 1 A team clubmates by 98-93.

It has not been a good league campaign so far for the B side as they have languished around the Section 4 relegation places all season, but their KO form has been very different.

Three big wins in the Sub-Team KO has taken them through to the semi-finals of that competition and now they have reached the same stage of the unique five-pairs Bistro KO.

That has been no easy ride as they have now accounted for two Section 1 teams to reach the penultimate stage.

As well as their own A side they have beaten Clayton West from Section 1 and now have another, Marsh Utd A, to overcome to reach the final.

The other big shock was the elimination of the competition holders and runaway league leaders, Lockwood Con A, who went out to old adversaries, Milnsbridge A.
