Council should spend money on town centre

Shelley Long, actress, Rick Springfield, singer, Edwyn Collins, singer, Shaun Ryder, singer Mark Butcher, former cricketer Scott Caan, actor, Ritchie Neville, singer, Glen Johnson, footballer, I AND many local residents are becoming more and more frustrated on what is happening to our beloved town centre.

We have too many traffic lights around the town centre causing frustration to visitors, car parking charges going up, shops not being able to afford the costly rents.

Surely it would be better to have cheaper rents so we would have more money coming into the council instead of more empty shops which cause an eyesore and have a negative impact on our town.

When we have visitors coming to Huddersfield Railway Station we give them fines because Kingdom specifically target this area.

If you drop a cigarette, this does not give a good impression for people coming far away and of course do not know about this heavy-handed tactic and it makes people again want to stay away from our town centre.

We also have bus gates from our Labour council which gives motorists fines and deters people to avoid certain streets.It is shocking to hear of some businesses losing business because of this. How are they going to survive?

Residents are expected to pay more for less, as council tax has gone up by 6%.

More and more people are going elsewhere to shop. Can you blame them?

Our Labour council has millions in reserves and are building it up, yet any kind of unpopular decision seems to be blamed on the Government (no mention of the previous legacy under Brown funnily enough) when we know services could be run better or saved.

Kirklees residents want and need this money spent on things like improving our town centre now. IS it possible for David Wagner to be the most inspirational manager in English Premier League football, whilst being the worst coach?
