Remarkably the tarmac remains the absolute same material as laid when the Dam service road was build by Sir Alfred McAlpine and Co, paid for by members of Huddersfield Motor Club at the time.
They were wise enough to secure a long-term future for this infamous and exciting hillclimb, through to the present day, despite the course and surrounding land being Yorkshire Water Authority land.
Baxter broke the record four times during the event, while David Tatham also broke the old record, too, after Baxter.
