Negative views on Town not from true supporter

-

Bill Kenwright Everton Football Club chairman and theatrical impresario, Tom Watson, golfer, Damon Wayans, actor, Noah Taylor, actor and comedian, Kristen Wilson, actress, Mark Ronson, music producer,

Beyonce Knowles singer, Jonny Lomax, rugby league player, I WAS appalled by the jaundiced and negative letter from Richard Wimpenny which you published last Saturday.

He and I have both followed Town over the same period. The difference between us is that I am a true supporter but he is just a spectator.

He refers to the “spineless display against Cardiff ”. In fact, Town gained a well-deserved point in a match that they would probably have won but for Hogg’s sending off.

His mention of the “need to entertain” is somewhat naïve. The basic objective in professional sport is to achieve the best possible result by any method within the rules of the game.

Worst of all were his references to the players as “spineless”, “terrified yokels” and “bored”.

These unpleasant and undeserved comments are insulting to the team, the management, the owner and all Town fans.

He then claims that “we would rather see the team lose 4-3” which is nonsense, I certainly wouldn’t!

More than enough condescending and negative comments are made about Town by various pundits and hacks without Mr Wimpenny’s malign contribution.

Up the Town! Suu Kyi’s failure to help with the dreadful plight of the Rohingya Muslims – who are fleeing to Bangladesh to safety but dreadful conditions.

The pictures on the news programmes make for harrowing viewing.

I cannot believe that a stoic, well-educated and humane woman, who I have always admired is allowing this to happen.

How can a Nobel Peace Prize winner no less behave in such a manner?

She now heads a de facto government doing the very things she opposed.

The award should be taken from her as she is no longer worthy of this honour.

As Lord Acton said “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”.
