News /Snow fun in Finland

-

Crystal Ski has added Suomu in Finland to its line up this season.

The resort, which opened in 1965, is tucked in the Arctic Circle and has a scattering of ski slopes and a selection of fun activities for couples, friends and families to enjoy.

The principle of the resort’s development is respect for the surrounding nature.

There are 13km of ski runs, with a mix of green, blue, red and black to cover all bases. Beginners in particular will be well taken care of - the nursery area is right next to the hotel, and there are some longer gentle runs to help to progress. Off the slopes, there are plenty of activities to get stuck into: snowmobile safaris through the forest are popular and searching for the Northern Lights, as are saunas.

There are also 75km of crosscountry tracks, some of them illuminated, to explore in untamed nature.

There’s no main town, so off-slope life centres around the Hotel Suomutunturi, only metres from the lifts. It has a restaurant, bar and a small shop.

Accommodation is provided either in a hotel room, or in one of the log cabins 1.5km away for a truly picture-perfect winter getaway with a herd of majestic reindeer in the field right next door.

A week’s stay at the three-star Hotel Suomutunturi costs from £699 per person (two sharing) including half board, flights from Gatwick to Kuusamo departing 27 January 2019 and transfers.

Lift passes are included in the holiday package.
