Shoes thrown at wife during row and alleged attack

-

A CHIROPRACTOR threw a pair of shoes at his wife during a heated argument, a court heard.

The alleged attack happened at the couple’s home in Beaumont Park on May 1.

During a row over the shoes fatherof-four Shahid Parvais threw the footwear at his wife striking her on the head, prosecutor Alex Bozman said.

He told Kirklees magistrates that the victim went upstairs and sat on her bed.

She was then followed by Parvais who hit her in the face, the Huddersfeld court was told.

Mr Bozman said that during a second row on September 13, this time over finances, Parvais assaulted his wife again.

She was standing at the top of the stairs when he allegedly pushed her, causing her to lose her balance and fall downstairs.

Mr Bozman told magistrates that she hit her back against a wall, sustaining some bruising and twisting her ankle.

Parvais, currently of Platnam Grove in Birkby, pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault by beating.

The 46-year-old was told that his trial will take place on November 28.

In the meantime he is banned from going to the family home or contacting the complainant.

He is permitted to collect equipment for his business from the property, which he works from, but this must be done via a third property and with police consent.
