THE head coach called upon Alex Pritchard to start for the first time since the 6-1 defeat to Manchester City at the beginning of the season.

And the diminutive midfielder’s inclusion immediatel­y helped Town push higher up the pitch.

Pritchard was able to win fouls in attacking areas for the Terriers, not only allowing Wagner’s men to start offensive moves of their own, but also relieving the pressure on Town’s trio of central defenders.

The 25-year-old has been benched for some clashes against the top six sides, but he showed on DESPITE the scoreline, Town’s performanc­e against Spurs was the best they have put in all season and the team seemed to gel at the John Smith’s Stadium. It was the most balanced display of the season to date for Town, with the Terriers able to defend and create.

The tone was set by Belgian striker Depoitre, who covered a huge amount of distance, won a number of headers and chased down every defender for Wagner’s side.

Depoitre’s industry was clear for all to see at the JSS and his team mates followed his example, pressing high up the pitch and getting on the front foot as often as possible against the London club.
