Boxer Fes backs Proud Terriers

-

Boxer Fes the Terrier, left, has become ambassador of Proud Terriers LGBT group. He is seen with Ryan Mather of the group BOXER Fes ‘The Terrier’ Batista is flying the flag for his hometown in the United States – and backing Huddersfield Town.

Fes, real name Mohammed Faisal, is a professional fighter in the States but splits his time between Crosland Moor and Florida.

Towards the end of last year Fes took the nickname The Terrier after the football club gave him permission to use it.

Fes now works closely with the Premier League club and supports the work of the Town Foundation charity.

He’s now signed up as an ambassador for Proud Terriers, the Huddersfield Town Lesbian Gay & Bisexual supporters’ group.

Fes, 28, who attended Mount Pleasant School and Moor End High School, said he was proud to be an ambassador for the Proud Terriers – and the club and the town as a whole.

“I support happiness and love, regardless of race or sexual orientation and I want to raise awareness,” he said.

Super featherweight Fes is trained by legendary Roy Jones Jnr and he’s making a name for himself in the States.

“I tell everyone about Huddersfield and where I’m from,” he said. “When you say Britain the Americans think of London but I tell them about Huddersfield and West Yorkshire.

“I also tell them about the Terrier Spirit. I fight like a terrier, that’s my boxing style.

“I want people all over the world to know about Huddersfield and to support Huddersfield Town however they can, that’s my duty.”

Fes is between fights at the moment and is in Huddersfield until January.
