Terriers are set to face tough test

-

TOWN take on Liverpool next weekend when the Premier League returns from the international break.

The Terriers are still waiting on their first win of the 2018/19 campaign, but will face a tough test when Mohamed Salah and co come to town.

Both matches last season ended in 3-0 wins for the Reds, but David Wagner will be hoping to spring a surprise on good friend Jurgen Klopp this time around.

Terence Kongolo has been ruled out with a hamstring injury and will not return until a few weeks after the international break. Danny Williams and Ramadan Sobhi were aiming to return over the break but may start on the bench after their respective spells on the sidelines. Tommy Smith and Abdelhamid Sabiri could both return.

A Reds win is priced at 1/4 on SkyBet, while a draw is at 9/2 and a Town win is at 12/1. MATHIAS Jorgensen is far from your stereotypical footballer.

The 28-year-old Dane is a deep thinker on life, politics and music, and being a grounded individual has helped him make a significant mark, not just for Huddersfield Town but on the international stage as well.

Jorgensen is in the Denmark squad – along with Town keeper Jonas Lossl – to face the Republic of Ireland tomorrow and Austria next Tuesday.

Fans will FIVE of Huddersfield Town’s Premier League squad could be in international action today.

Two of them – striker Steve Mounie and defender Flo Hadergjonaj – could earn full honours for their countries. While midfielders Philip Billing and Abdelhamid Sabiri, plus defender Jon Gorenc Stankovic, are vying for Under-21 action. Town head coach David Wagner, of course, will be hoping they all come through unscathed as he gets ready to prepare for Liverpool at home on Saturday week, October 20 (5.30pm).

Billing and Stankovic, in fact, could be the first two into action with 5pm kick-offs. The in-form Billing – who is making a significant mark for Wagner in the Premier League this season – will be hoping to help Denmark Under-21s take a big step towards the European Under-21 Championships against Poland.

Denmark top the group by one point from Poland, so it’s an important fixture – especially as Poland won 3-1 the last time the two nations met.

Billing is also in the squad for next Tuesday’s home clash with the Faroe Islands, while Poland complete their fixtures at home to Georgia. Stankovic is also in European Under-21 Championships qualifying action as Slovenia entertain Bulgaria at Stadion Z’dezele, in Celje.

Points are needed by Stankovic and his colleagues to try to secure a play-off spot, as they are third in Group 9 with 14 points, four ahead of third-placed Kazakhstan.

That will be tough as Slovenia take on France in Dijon on Tuesday.
