would be unable to see him and he became angry and raised his voice.

“He was shouting ‘f**k’ and ‘s**t’ between sentences and threatened to cause damage.

“The receptionist was shocked by this and it left her feeling very intimidated and she called police.”

The Huddersfield court was told that Rashid was still shouting and swearing when police arrived and there were several members of the public present who witnessed his behaviour.

Rashid, of South Avenue in Cowlersley, has 24 offences to his name.

They include convictions for being drunk on a public highway and using threatening behaviour.

Zara Begum, mitigating, said that there was an error in communication as her client believed that he had been asked to attend as a walk in patient and wasn’t given a specific time.

She explained: “He got upset at not being able to see the nurse with regards to his blood pressure.

“He’s an alcoholic, coupled with a number of health issues, and had drunk half a bottle of brandy.

“He fully accepts shouting and swearing which was completely unacceptable.

“Sometimes when he’s had a bit to drink the underlying issues he has provoke him to act in the manner he did and he’s extremely sorry for that.”

Deputy district judge Nick Hayles handed Rashid a 12-month conditional discharge, meaning that he will not be punished if he stays out of trouble for the next year.

He told him: “You just need to try and keep away from that sort of situation.

“I expect you need to see your doctor and they are entitled to sack you from the surgery.

“It’s not appropriate behaviour, is it?

“You need their help, not to give them grief.”

Rashid will also have to pay £35 prosecution costs and £20 victim surcharge.
