Emley push for top after six-goal rout

-

A DOUBLE from Shane Hamilton set AFC Emley on their way to a 6-0 hammering of bottom side FC Bolsover.

After last week’s 4-0 win over the same opponents at home, Emley completed the double over Bolsover with a 10-0 aggregate score to move them up to 10th in the Northern Counties East League Division one.

Hamilton set the ball rolling in the second minute, getting on the end of a through ball and slotting past the keeper

Ben Burnett doubled the lead in the 16th minute, finishing well from a great ball by Ben Mills, to notch his fourth goal in two games after his hat-trick last week.

Bolsover then kept Emley at bay, like last week, regrouped and frustrated the Emley attack. No further goals were added before the half time break.

Emley started the second half as they started the first, with Shane Hamilton completing his double, again, in the second minute of the half, a strong finish from Michael Starkey’s pull back beat the keeper for 3-0.

There was no respite for Bolsover as just four minutes later, an Emley corner was turned into his own net by the unfortunate Sam Kirk, then things got even worse for the hosts as they were reduced to ten men when Joseph Bayne was shown a straight red for dissent.

Emley now looked to go and finish with a flourish and wrap up the three points, and looked to have done just that when a long range, dipping volley from Michael Tunnacliffe found the net for 5-0, but that wasn’t the end.

The rout was completed 10 minutes from time when Jordan Townend fired a free-kick low into the net. Six points in a week and 10 points from the last 15 available have seen Emley push themselves within touching distance of the top teams. ■■EMLEY scorers; Hamilton (2, 47) Burnett (16) Kirk (OG 51) Tunnacliffe (74) Townend (80) ■■ATTENDANCE: 34 ■■HEPWORTH Group Man-of-thematch: Ben Mills
