ALLOWEEN Happening is back with another spine-tingling line-up of creepy, curious and raucous entertainment, utilising the entire Lawrence Batley Theatre building.

Now in its seventh year, Halloween Happening celebrates all things outlandish, macabre and unusual with a feast of special events.

The LBT, in Queen Street, Huddersfield, invites audiences to wander their atmospheric Georgian building and sample an array of small plays, special effects make-up, interactive performances, magic, fiendish film and live music, plus each ticket includes Sweeney Todd’s hearty pie and pea supper. Kids can create their own slime at a very special workshop on October 31 - Halloween.

Slime Planet are currently touring their workshop around the UK and husband and wife team Chris and Nishi Saville save the scariest day of all for Chris’ home town Huddersfield.

Chris said: “We started in May after our kids got really into making slime and my wife wanted to create a safer recipe than what people were recommending online.”

Children can design their own gruesome slimes, adding spiders and bugs as well as a range of smells. Especially for Halloween, glow-in-the-dark slime will be available to make. ■■Workshops last one hour and are at 11am, 12.45pm, 2.15pm and 4pm at The Elms Sports Centre on New Street in Milnsbridge (HD3 4LD). ■■Early bird tickets cost £11.50 (£12.50 after October 7) from slimeplanet.co.uk/book. happens in the woods that is sure to give everyone a fright”.

It is so scary, in fact, parents are advised not to bring children younger than three. Throughout all of autumn half term (Saturday October 27 to Sunday November 4) Kirklees Light Railway will be putting on free craft activities on their daytime routes, dubbed Half Term Horrors.

Fear not though, this isn’t too scary and is open to children of all ages.

Fancy dress is encouraged on all the railway’s Halloween services and kids in fancy dress for Half Term Horrors will travel half price. The event is included in the price of a standard Kirklees Light Railway ticket.
