Toon Army very clever - Benitez

-

NEWCASTLE boss Rafael Benitez has warned Brighton not to be taken in by Bruno’s suggestion that the Toon Army can turn against their team.

The sides meet at St James’ Park today with hosts desperate for a Premier League victory – something they are yet to achieve this season. Seagulls defender Bruno claimed earlier this week that the visitors could pile the pressure on the hosts if they could make the crowd restless, but Benitez is confident that will not happen.

“Our fans are very clever. If they see something wrong, they will still be supporting the team.” HUDDERSFIELD Town welcome Liverpool to the John Smith’s Stadium in one of their toughest assignments of the campaign.

Led by Jurgen Klopp, good friend of Town boss David Wagner, the Merseyside club are flying high in the Premier League this season.

One would assume that even with a huge dollop of ‘Terrier Spirit’, no wins in the league so far for Town indicate the chances of a home success are slim.

Fear not though Town fans, there may be hope yet. Despite making strides under former Dortmund boss Klopp, Liverpool have actually struggled in recent times against teams in the bottom three of the Premier League. In total, the German manager has led Liverpool in 19 matches against teams in the Premier League bottom three, managing to win a scant total of only six games.

This surprisingly means that Liverpool have failed to win in 13 of their 19 matches against the teams in the relegation zone, a statistic sure to boost the confidence of the Town faithful.

Notable struggles in the Klopp era against those in the lower reaches of the Premier League include 2-0 defeats away to Hull City and Burnley.

Last season the Reds recorded a 1-0 loss to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, and could only draw 0-0 with Stoke City – both teams went on to be relegated.

To compound their woes against struggling teams, Liverpool also arrive in West Yorkshire without a goal in October, after drawing a blank in games with Napoli and Manchester City.
