CCTV bid to catch flasher

-

POLICE have been provided with CCTV footage after a second incident of indecent exposure in the Newsome area on the same morning.

A woman who was walking her dog on a path between Hall Bower and Newsome was ‘flashed’ at by a man on Monday morning.

The incident happened at around 9.15am – just minutes after a similar incident near to Castle Hill School on Newsome Road South.

The latest victim, who is in her 60s, says she was followed along a path which runs from Hall Bower to Newsome.

After the man exposed himself, the woman shouted at him and he said ‘sorry, sorry.’

She was able to check CCTV at a neighbour’s house and has supplied the footage to West Yorkshire Police.

She told the Examiner: “I shouted at him ‘you dirty b ***** d’ and he said ‘sorry, sorry.’ He ran off. I ran after him, shouting. He ran back towards Hall Bower.

“He must have gone over a wall and got away. I think he knows the area well and is local.

“I was quite cross and a bit shocked. I was angry but not frightened of him. I think he’s a bit of a wimp and a bit pathetic. But if this happens to a young girl she would be quite scared.”

The woman, who asked not to be named, described him as “quite creepy” and an “unsavoury” person.

He was white, aged around 30 and was wearing faded jeans, a black jacket and a black cap.

According to one mum, the man has struck several times.

She phoned the police on Monday after seeing the brazen flasher at 8.50am on Monday near to Castle Hill School.

“Over the summer many local people have been aware of this flasher who has been seen previously and there’s been talk in the village that he’s followed an elderly lady up to Castle Hill.

“He has also been seen around the Scout Hut which holds an afternoon club and that he lies in wait in the long grass for lady dog-walkers around Castle Hill.”

She added: “He needs to be stopped before it’s too late.”

West Yorkshire Police has been asked to comment on the incident at 9.15am on Monday.

They previously said they were investigating the earlier incident.
