MP should look at what ‘fine’ town is becoming

-

Michael Kitchen, actor, Charles Moore, journalist and former editor of the Daily Telegraph, Peter Jackson, film director, Larry Mullen Jr, rock drummer Johnny Marr, rock guitarist Denis Irwin, former footballer and TV presenter Ian Walker, former footballer, Matt Dawson, former rugby player, PERHAPS Barry Sheerman MP should spend a day with me.

Early to town at 7am to get to the cash machine, I saw a disorder outside McDonalds.

A takeaway coffee at the Merrie England at 8am. The assistant has to be taken to work by her husband and he sees her in because she is frightened of the aggression by people in the town centre.

Goodness knows what happens next, but by 4pm I go back to the remaining shops and witness the aggressive begging and obvious crime.

And the man who knocks on your window as you park – rubbing his stomach – begging.

She phoned me later that evening and said: “Isn’t Huddersfield town centre a CAN someone please explain something to me?

Why is it that nurses and other hospital staff have to pay to park when working?

But then you get up to as many as 10 Kirklees Council vans parking in and around the Civic Centre for free.

The ones who should park for free are hospital staff.
