Let there be lights

X-FACTOR and Celebrity Big Brother star Amelia Lily will switch on Huddersfield’s Christmas Lights.

Amelia came third in the final of the X-Factor in 2011 and finished runner up behind former Girls Aloud member Sarah Harding in Celebrity Big Brother 2017.

She will also perform at the switch-on event in the Piazza in Huddersfield town centre on Saturday, November 17.

The day will start at 10am with a Christmas market.

There will be face-painting for children and Santa will be available for a free meet and greet at 2pm inside the old BHS store on the Shambles.

The entertainment starts at 3.30pm with a live DJ before Scissett-based UK Champion dance troupe Scandalous Productions takes the stage in The Piazza.

Pop songstress Channy – who has supported Olly Murs and will be headlining a show at Metro Arena Newcastle in December – will follow Scandalous Productions at 4.40pm.

There will be a welcome from Huddersfield Town Crier Vic Watson and church leaders will deliver a Christmas message before Amelia Lily, who is currently starring as Princess Fiona in the Shrek The Musical UK tour, steps up for the headline slot at 5.35pm.

Once Amelia has sung, she will pull the lever and Christmas in Huddersfield will be officially under way.
