War memories about those who helped troops

-

PJ Proby, singer, Sally Field, actress, Ethan Hawke, actor Rebecca Romijn, former model and actress, Thandie Newton, actress Nell McAndrew, model, Emma Stone, actress, FROM the open window of my car I observed in the bright sunlight three guests of profound beauty ... they being three pigeons gleaming alongside the fence by the river.

No-one could ever reproduce their beauty of colours within their feathers of pink, lilac and mauve, shimmering like jewels.

I sat bewitched observing them, such a peaceful scene until a young girl, maybe four or five came by the window saying to her father ‘look birds’ so joyfully she was to be grabbed by the hand as she headed for the door of the store.

“They’re not birds, they’re rats” he said in a loud voice.

How sad the child glimpsed this beauty but it was ‘shattered in an instant.’

I hope the little one will always love birds.

Pigeons in the war were very special, risking their lives for us to bring home information attached to their legs and flying through the danger below, of being shot down. We should be proud of them. Never should pigeons be called rats.

On Armistice Day we should remember their bravery for us. The three beautiful pigeons I saw gave me food for thought to remember what pigeons have done for us at home.

Flying home with their very precious messages from the front, helping to save lives, helping towards what our brave lads wanted, also to be coming home free. DEAR Editor, my name is Kevin Burns, 76-years-old, and I am writing regarding the Huddersfield Town football team and why they are at the bottom of the league and not scoring goals.

I have been down to watch Town three times with my sons and a seven-year-old YMCA footballer, who regularly scores two goals and hat-tricks. My three sons asked me ‘If we bought you a ticket would you go?’

I said not regularly, it’s easy to watch on Sky TV.

We have seen the team aren’t very good at scoring goals. They have no-one who can score goals.

That’s why they are at the bottom and only just escaped relegation last year. Something will have to be done as they are getting nowhere.

The manager tries hard and only just lost to his mate at Liverpool, but if they don’t score goals and get points they will be back where they started.

I’ve watched Town on and off since I was 12-years-old and saw three games last year which were not very good.

So get someone who can score some goals and win matches.
