E’RE rather busy watching the royals these days aren’t we? William and Kate got married and had three kids. The Queen turned 90. Camilla turned 70. Harry married Meghan and they went on tour (Meghan baby bump watch is in full swing).

Now Charles is 70 – or at least he will be on Wednesday, so of course we need cameras to follow him around for a bit.

This documentary does the job – a crew has had exclusive access to the Prince over the last year, watching him at work and at leisure, both at home and abroad.

It’s all rather endearing as we get to view a year in his life. It’s all so incredibly British.

Interviews with those who know Charles best are most revealing. Camilla The Duchess of Cornwall, and his sons The Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex discuss their upbringing and their feelings about the Prince.

“He’s got a big heart,” says Wills. “The man never stops,” says Harry.

“He’s pretty impatient,” adds Camilla.

By his 70th birthday, Prince Charles will have been involved in public affairs for 50 years, championing environmental and social issues long before they reached the mainstream.

Watch out for a sweet moment when the Prince tells of George’s Wood, the trees he planted for his first grandson.

There’s also some fun as he goes shopping at a market in the Pacific island republic of Vanuatu, while officials in the background scramble around for local cash.
