THE Huddersfield Junior Crown Green Bowls Association celebrated a summer of success at their presentation evening.
More than 150 people attended the event at Golcar British Legion Club as the league celebrated its 25th anniversary.
Tom Hirst, of Tommy Wilson Memorial Cup winners Almondbury Liberal club, collected more than £250 in prize money along with several medals and trophies.
Long-serving sponsor and referee of numerous junior competitions, Norma Maxwell, was presented with a bunch of flowers as a token of thanks.
Norma is giving up her refereeing duties after 25 years in junior bowling.
League secretary Geoff Martin also received an engraved tankard for 25 years of service to the Huddersfield Junior Bowls Association.
Geoff ’s wife, Elizabeth, also received a bunch of flowers, as a thank-you for her services to Huddersfield junior bowling.
More than £2,500 was paid out in prize money to the players at Huddersfield junior clubs this season thanks to generous sponsors and patrons.
The association celebrated 25 years of junior bowling in Huddersfield and surrounding districts this year.
The Huddersfield Junior Bowls Association secretary said that without the help of sponsors, patrons, family and players none of this could happen. He thanked them all for their support. This year the Huddersfield Juniors boasted two Yorkshire Junior U18 merit winners, a British girls U18 merit winner, and another successful Yorkshire Junior County team, winning the Drakes Pride B.C.G.B.A national county championship for a fourth time in a row and for the 14th time in the past 18 years. A large contingent of Huddersfield Junior bowlers make up the county team.
