Sales of the scented cleaning product, made by Linthwaite-based Thornton & Ross, have shot up since Instagram star Mrs Hinch added Zoflora to her ‘must have’ list.
The Examiner reported earlier this week how Zoflora has been selling out, leaving empty shelves at local supermarkets.
Now Thornton & Ross says it has doubled its production of the disinfectant to ensure fans of Mrs Hinch – real name Sophie Hinchcliffe – and avid cleaners are not left without.
Pharmaceutical manufacturer Thornton & Ross says sales of Zoflora have increased by more than a quarter (28%) from last year.
The company says its staff have been working overtime and weekends to ensure the shop shelves are filled.
Zoflora senior brand manager, Vicky Motley, said: “Despite social media rumours, we would like to reassure our loyal customers that we are doing everything that we can to ensure a constant supply of Zoflora is leaving Huddersfield to be dispatched across the country.
“The Zoflora team has responded to the increasing demand for Zoflora by pulling out all of the stops to ensure that production capacity is maximised, working overtime and at weekends to keep up with demand when required.
“We have doubled our production over the last few months, and we are now manufacturing almost one million bottles a week.
“Consumers don’t need to worry about a ‘shortage’ – we haven’t stopped manufacturing, and we will continue striving to meet the everincreasing demand for the UK’s number one disinfectant.”
Thornton & Ross was founded in 1922 by Nathan Thornton and Phillip Ross. It also makes Covonia cough syrup and Hedrin head lice remover.
