Residents urged to have their say over Castle Hill

-

Unfortunately, protocols have to be followed and the court process doesn’t take place overnight. Sadly, travellers know the rules that councils and police have to follow. former tennis player, I READ your article on Castle Hill.

Our survey in autumn last year showed that residents have a wide range of views about the future of Castle Hill and whether it should be developed.

While a number of respondents said that they were supportive, in principle, of some form of visitor facility at the site, I want to be clear that there wasn’t wide support for a fixed, permanent and commercial building at the top of the hill.

My view is that there is strong public support for the hill to be preserved as an ancient monument, with a small visitor centre at the foot of the hill and a mobile catering van for visitors at weekends.

However, there is a planning application open for public consultation, and I would encourage residents to have their say! THE Liberal Democrats survey, supposedly in support of some kind of food or drink facility at Castle Hill is totally misleading.

If I were to undertake a survey asking if there should be a McDonald’s or Burger King sited there I am sure the idea would get support from some.

May I suggest that the council should site an ice cream van which also sells drinks. This would serve the purpose just as well, and the added bonus is that it would not be an eyesore.
