an important deal for us as it is the first step towards filling our highquality employment park, which should create up to 100 jobs. It is a vindication of our decision to speculatively develop the park.

“There is a distinct lack of highquality and flexible light industrial units in the Huddersfield area, so we are satisfying the pent-up demand from small-to-medium-sized businesses, who are looking for attractive, practical and modern premises, combining warehousing and distribution space, with hi-tech office facilities.

“There are six business units on the park, ranging from 2,500 sq ft to 10,750 sq ft. They are built in three blocks, arranged around a central service courtyard, providing room for vehicles to turn round and park.”

Simon Brown, a director of Sniffers Pet Care, said the firm had outgrown its existing premises and added: “We are expanding rapidly with growth up 25% year on year.

“We had outgrown our previous premises and our new home at the Bridge Business Park is ideal. The quality of the units is exceptional, with superb workmanship.

“The location, meanwhile, is ideal. It is so close to the M62, with access to the ports and to Yorkshire’s excellent motorway system. So it’s perfect for us, providing the perfect base from where we can continue to expand and flourish.”

Jonathan O’Connor, of West Yorkshire property consultancy Walker Singleton, who brokered the Sniffers Pet Care deal on behalf of Frank Marshall Estates, said: “This deal is a resounding endorsement of the quality of the business park and of the owners’ decision to build speculatively. Considerable interest has already been expressed by a number of prospective tenants for the other four units.”

The Bridge Business Park is in Colne Bridge Road just off the main A62 Leeds Road. Nearby occupiers including Mamas &Papas, VTL and CJ Antich. Members of the Student Business Society called in business coach Andrew Miller to help them cope with the stress of finding the perfect first job.

Andrew created Business Enjoyment in 2016 after 21 years as a business consultant and coach, helping people to realise that there’s much more to business than simply making money.

He now runs discussion groups called ‘Breathing Spaces’ for businesses owners who are dissatisfied, but don’t know how to put things right.

Andrew said: “The day I spoke happened to be National Stress Awareness Day. The students made it very clear that they felt so much stress and pressure to find the right job immediately. They felt that getting anything wrong now would destroy the rest of their lives.” PANELS manufacturer recognised long-serving employees – with more than 1,000 years’ service between them!

“I talked about my own journey and that of many others, and told them that how we start out isn’t how we end up – university is about the process of learning not what you actually learn – there isn’t a divide between education and work, you’re learning all the time and the purpose of your working career is to find out what it is you actually like and want to do.”

Andrew talked about how the students can prepare themselves mentally for work, explaining how to enjoy what they do and how to achieve a healthy work-life balance right from the outset.

After the talk, one student said: “Learning about Andrew’s journey was refreshing.

“His advice: your ideal career can take a long time to find and sometimes it doesn’t exist, in which case, you can create it.

“It was good to hear that we have time and that we don’t have to pressure ourselves to choose a career straight away.”

“It is a fantastic achievement for all concerned and we look forward to extending the 25 Club family further next year.”
