TOWN WINDOW SHOPPING

-

TOWN boss David Wagner admits he is already keeping an eye on the market ahead of the January transfer window.

The head coach is preparing his side for the return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to Wolves on Sunday.

It’s a chance for his side to build on four points from the last two matches, although he is forced to rejig because leftback Chris Lowe is injured and central defender Mathias ‘Zanka’ Jorgensen is suspended.

Town’s goalscoring record remains a major topic of conversation with a third of the season gone, and Wagner says that while he’s keeping an eye on the transfer market, he is making no firm plans at the moment with still five-and-ahalf weeks to go to the window opening on January 1.

“For me it isn’t as simple as just saying we haven’t scored a lot of goals, so we need another goalscorer,” explained Wagner.

“Buy him, pay whatever it costs and then you will be safe. This is not how it works in our football club.

“Of course, I started a few weeks ago to have my eye on the market, it’s important you are prepared for the window but, in general, everything you think about today, in six weeks it could be totally different. This is why my main focus isn’t on the window, it’s only about how we can collect the next points against Wolverhampton Wanderers, because anything else makes no sense.

“We will see what happens in the next six weeks and what makes sense for us.

“At the minute, it only makes sense to be focused on the opponents rather than the window.”
