BOSS IS NOT FOCUSED ON DROP ZONE

-

ARON Gunnarsson has warned Cardiff’s relegation rivals that the Bluebirds are finding their feet in the Premier League.

Cardiff were considered no-hopers by many following their surprise promotion from the Sky Bet Championship in May.

And, although Neil Warnock’s side remain in the bottom three, Cardiff have increasingly suggested they will be competitive this season and have won two of their last four games.

“The first few games we were learning and we had to see what the league was about,” said Iceland midfielder Gunnarsson, one of the few survivors of Cardiff’s only previous Premier League campaign in 2013-14.

“But I feel we’re growing into the league, and the Brighton and Fulham games will give us confidence going forward.

“We’ve definitely got some way to go, but the gaffer (Warnock) is trying to offer his input with his experience in the league.

“Confidence is massive in this league and so is home form.

“It’s been tough dealing with hard games and setbacks, but we’ve still bounced back strong and there’s more to come from us as a team.”

Cardiff head to Everton today without a league win against the Toffees since December 1956. DAVID Wagner says he isn’t even thinking about being in the Premier League bottom three as Town prepare to take on Wolves.

The German head coach has been encouraged by the performances which have gleaned four points from the last two outings against Fulham and West Ham United.

And he is targeting the ‘highest level’ from his players once again as they try to ensure Wolves go five matches without a victory.

However, when asked if the chance to catapult themselves out of the relegation zone with a win was a driving inspiration, Wagner confirmed the table is not a concern right now. “To be totally honest, the bottom three at the minute is not the main focus,” said Wagner, who is forced into changes at Molineux because Mathias ‘Zanka’ Jorgensen is suspended and Chris Lowe injured. “Psychologically, every win brings you forward. Big steps forward. “And if you can do it two times out of three it would be great but, beforehand, we have a lot of work to do. “First of all, we have to bring everybody after the international break into the best physical shape – some have to recover a little

how we can cause Wolves some problems, and this is where we will prepare over the next days.”

So have all Town’s internationals returned to the club ready for action?

“Yes, the last one was Aaron (Mooy) who came back on Wednesday night.

“I have seen him in the morning when he has done some recovering, so everybody is healthy after their international duties. “Some came back very successful. “Zanka, even if he is suspended, played his part as Denmark got promoted and we had some goalscorers in this international duty – Steve Mounie for Benin, Hamid (Sabiri) and Isaac (Mbenza) for the Germany and Belgium Under 21 squads too, so everybody is back healthy and now we have started to prepare for the Wolves game.”
