Thieves target cars to sell on the metal

A further six crimes were reported to police but victims requested that full details were kept private. The incidents included a Suzuki Vitara stolen following a house burglary and the theft of items from four containers on a site. A person at an ATM machine also had money stolen by someone who grabbed the cash from behind.

Takings were stolen from a shop by a man speaking a foreign language who distracted staff. Honda Accord on Mead Street, Fartown.

November 12 at 8pm: A catalytic converter was taken from a Honda Accord on Heaton Gardens.

November 13 at midnight: A catalytic converter was stolen from a Honda Accord on St James’s Road.

November 14 at 1am: Machine tools were stolen from a VW Caddy van on Wren Street, Paddock.

November 16 at 8am: Suspects tried to steal lead from the roof of a house on Halifax Old Road, Birkby.

Eight more crimes were reported but the victims did not want details to be made public. These included the theft of bicycles from a shed, the theft of paving Two crimes were reported but victims requested details not to be made public.

A Ford Transit van was stolen and in a separate incident an Ifor Williams trailer was taken from a rear yard.

November 12 at 10pm: A Renault Megane was stolen from Wellington Street at Oakes.

November 15 at 8am: Tools, machinery, building materials and a 360 excavator were stolen from a building site off Crosland Road, Huddersfie­ld.

November 15 at 5.30pm: Tools and other equipment were stolen from a building site off Crosland Road.
