HUDDERSFIELD Falcon ran their penultimate club championship trial at a cold and misty Horn Hill near New Mill, Holmfirth.

The marking-out team had done a good job of finding 10 sections in the old quarry workings with some new twists on some old favourites.

Conditions underfoot were greasy, with mud being carried onto the damp rocks, increasing the severity of the hazards as the trial progressed.

On the championship course, Barnsley’s Jordan Potter conquered, although on this occasion he didn’t have it all his own way as Ben Robinson pushed him close.

Ever-improving Will Tolson was just a point further back.

Tony Heath was the man to beat on the Clubman A course, finishing just a single mark in front of Chris Jones, who in turn was three marks to the good over the chasing Ben Francis.

The lowest winning total of the day came on the Clubman B course, with winner David Perry completing the entire course for just one mark.

Phil Daley was a close runner-up with a final total of four, while Brandon Wilson rounded out the top three just another mark further adrift.

At the Bradford Motor Club trials at Glusburn, Silsden’s Fraiser Lampkin won over the 50/50 course class from Otley’s Ian Bradley, while his elder brother, Alfie, took his Vertigo round the hard course to take overall fifth. Ryan Crowder rode the entire course without penalty.

Only 20 competitors headed for Post Hill for the West Leeds Motor Club’s sixth and final club championship trial.

Chris Hunt returned home to ride, but the man on the move was Keith Normington who won the Green route riding his Triumph Cub.

British and European Youth trials champion Harry Hemingway turned on the style at Wetherby’s annual Presidents Shield Trial at Fellbeck.

Hemingway, 12, rode through the sections for just two penalties and that won the East Keswick schoolboy the McRae Tray Trophy. His score was a point under Huddersfield adult winner, Chris Greenwood, who lost his three penalties on the rocky third section.
