Stop blowing things out of proportion please or Father Xmas won’t be coming to your house.” A spokesman for Kirklees Council said: “At this busy time of year the Mayor is invited to many festive events across the Borough. “On Saturday night the Mayor was due to attend the Milnsbridge event as well as other events later that evening. The Mayoral car parked as directed by the event organiser and when the time for departure came the route was safely cleared and the car moved slowly and safely through the crowd to allow departure for the next engagement.” The Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Gwen Lowe, could not be reached for comment.
