Owner of failed Colosseum has bought new bar

-

including Courage Directors Bitter and the usual assortment of lagers, beers, champagne and cocktails there will be a big emphasis on food and soft drinks.

It won’t all happen overnight, of course, but Ian says he will ultimately be offering fresh ice cream, pizza, coffee as well as fresh Italian pasta, all served from an open kitchen where customers can watch their food being made.

In addition sports fans will relish the chance to watch Premier League and European Championship football courtesy of Sky Sports and BT Sport.

Ian, a former food photographer, said: “We will be open almost 24 hours, seven days a week and there Adam Snowball, who is the son of new owner of The Showtime, Ian Snowball, pulls a pint on its opening day will be live music and security on the door. Children and families are welcome.

“As a nod back to its cinematic heritage we will be showing films every day and serving popcorn.

“Some of our prices will be lower than Wetherspoons but from day one I want the people of Huddersfield to know that it will only survive if folk get behind us.

“To me this is an adults playground with everything anyone might want from a bar.

“I want this place to be somewhere to go to if I was feeling bored.

“I was absolutely gutted about the Colosseum but I’m a bouncer and I had to bounce back!”

Refurbishment work will start as soon as possible with wood panelling introduced and a glass-covered outdoor area on a rooftop terrace.

And Ian says one of his first tasks will be to get rid of the graffiti-style artwork which is a major theme at the club.

Best of all he says he still hasn’t given up on his plans for the Colosseum if this venture proves a success.

He added: “If the council pull their finger out and do what they promised we will look at reactivating our plans for the Colosseum again.”
