Don’t ruin Castle Hill with cheap, shapeless building

-

There should have been a more detailed plan from the outset, before the referendum. A lack of a plan has, aside from not making it clear to the electorate what leaving would mean before voting (and allowing them to make a more informed decision), but has also led to infighting within and between political parties as to what we should be doing instead of discussing it with the EU - which is what the two year period is for. The negotiations, as a result, have been an absolute shambles and made the country a laughing stock. There are still no answers and time is still ticking. Sue Johnston, actress, Rosalind Ayres, actress, Tom Waits, singer/songwriter, Colin Hendry former footballer, Damien Rice, singer/songwriter, John Terry, footballer, Emily Browning actress,

Nicholas Hoult, actor, LOOKING up at Castle Hill with its raw beauty on a clear day, in my opinion nothing should be built on the hill.

It will completely ruin the outlook we all enjoy.

These are not my comments but a friend’s, a visitor to our town after I explained what plans had gone in to build a large building up there.

Just a hill with a building on it one might say, far more than this to us Huddersfield folk.

To me it signifies part of our heritage and when we return from holiday the sight of the hill and tower says we are back home. Sentimental maybe, but if we don’t care and stand back and let things happen then when our kids ask why we stuck our heads in the sand and did nothing one can argue that once an inn was up there, but modern buildings are shapeless and done on the cheap. Prime Minister May’s oft repeated mantra “Brexit means Brexit”? Perhaps she meant “Brexit means wrecks it?” Time to go, Theresa – let’s give Boris a chance to sort out the mess.

Years ago it was unusual to ask “who cares for the carer” but over recent years the stress endured by carers and the valuable work they do – not withstanding the money they save the government – has been realised.

Caring for the carers by Carers Count with outings and exercise classes as well as informative courses helps make life easier for the carer. So a big thank you and a Merry Christmas to the staff for all that they do!
